So it’s the new year again! 2025 is going to be a year of big personal changes and I’m going to have to find ways to navigate them without losing too many brain cells. Before I dive into what my plans are for this year, let’s take a look at how I did this past year, in 2024.
It looks like I had set some resolutions at the start of the year… Let’s see how I did!
-
- Spend up to 2 hours on Social Media a day.
- Read 2 books a term (outside of readings from classes)
- Write one blog post a month!
Hmm… I don’t think I did ANY of these. I definitely spent a similar amount of time on my phone. However, I did spend slightly less time on social media. Instead, I spent more time playing video games! As for the second resolution, I think I only read one book in 2024. That’s spanning over two terms (oh well!). Finally, for the third one, you’ll notice that this did not happen at all. I had thought about writing a post every month but I honestly did not have the energy to execute something like that–especially after spending hours reading research papers and writing discussion posts in the middle of the night.
As a direct result of my inability to fulfill my new year’s resolutions on a regular basis, I am resolving to have no resolutions this year. Instead, I think I will aim for some measurable progress on certain tasks for this year. Some contenders for this year include progress towards attaining a driver’s license, applying to at least 3 full-time jobs by the end of my degree, and planning a trip to another city on my own. There will be no big “goals” or “resolutions” to aim for and I will be less disappointed (hopefully!). As mentioned in last year’s summary of 2023, I am still working on working with myself. Although I have been working with myself for about 20+ years, I still have a lot to figure out! There are still many things to organize, understand, and decide in my brain and life.
With that, I hope 2024 was enjoyable for you and that 2025 treats us kindly. See you next time :))
